SUMMARY:Gender Creative Families Night
DESCRIPTION:Centre for Sexuality\, in partnership with Families Matter\, is pleased to offer a monthly support group for families and caregivers of gender creative children up to age 14. The group meets the first Tuesday of every month. We begin at 6:00 p.m. and finish at 7:30 p.m. \nThis is a support group for parents and caregivers of gender creative children under the age of 14. New families are welcome to join at any point throughout the year and you are welcome to attend based on your availability or interest in the evening’s topic. Gender creative children are kids who express their gender in ways that are different than what might be expected based on their assigned sex at birth. This includes children who may be questioning their gender\, transgender\, gender fluid\, non-binary\, or Two-Spirit. \nThe group is an opportunity for caregivers to share stories\, support each other in a non-judgmental atmosphere\, and learn more about how to support their gender creative kids. The group is facilitated by the LGBTQ2S+ Natural Supports Worker from Centre for Sexuality (formerly Calgary Sexual Health Centre) and includes resource sharing as well as discussion time. \nFree Child Care is provided in the play room at Families Matter during the group. Child Care is run by a staff member from Families Matter and volunteers who have extensive experience working with gender creative kids. The play space is also ideal for kids to connect with others children who share these experiences. Siblings are always welcome to attend.

This is a safe space for anyone who identifies as an 2SLGBTQ+ community member or ally. We will accept attendees on a drop-in basis. \nThe cafe can be accessed directly from the outside of the mall on the east side (closer to 58th Ave)\, or from inside the mall on the first level. The closest mall entrance is Entrance 1. \nThere is a parking lot located by Entrance 1. There are accessible parking spots in the parking lot as well. The closest LRT station is Chinook Station. There are bus stops with multiple routes along Macleod Trail and near the mall\, including the #9 #10 bus routes. \nThe mall entrance is wheelchair accessible and has an automatic door. The entrance into the cafe is step-free. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to a new year of our Inside Out youth programming at Calgary Outlink! Our group will now be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at from 6-8pm! \nOur youth programming is for 2SLGBTQ+ youth ages 13-18 along with their friends\, families\, and supporters. We aim to create fun\, affirming\, and friendly spaces for queer and trans youth! This is a drop-in group\, so no registration is required. \nThe meetings on 2nd Tuesdays are an Arts & Crafts Club\, where we’ll be doing different crafts together each month! \nChoose a craft out of our supplies\, or bring your own! We’ll have supplies to draw\, paint\, colour\, bead\, and more!  \nThis meetup is intended as a fun and welcoming space for friendly connection and to meet fellow 2SLGBTQ+ and allied youth! If you are looking for further support\, Outlink staff are available to meet with you one-on-one or in small groups by phone\, text based messaging\, or video call upon request. They can also help connect you to other counselling and support services. \nThe group is run by volunteer group facilitators who have received 30+ hours of peer support training. \nWe ask all participants to follow our Safer Spaces Ground Rules when attending group or accessing any of our services. If you aren’t following them\, we might talk to you about it and/or ask you to leave depending on what’s happening. \nIf you’d like to take any pictures of the room or the group\, please ask facilitators and participants first. \n_____________________ \nGetting There: \nPaid and free street parking is available in the area. The nearest LRT Stations are Downtown-West Kerby (blue line) and 8th Street (red line). Nearby bus routes include the #65 and #66.  Other buses are nearby in the area as well. \nBuilding Accessibility: \nThere is a ramp leading up to the main door. Please be aware that there is a lip at the bottom of the ramp\, so it’s not quite flush with the ground. There is an elevator in the building. Washrooms in The Rainbow Room are all-gender and wheelchair-accessible. \nPublic health and the safety of our communities is very important to us! The following safety practices are put in place for our in-person programming: \n\nWearing a mask is always welcome and encouraged.\nIf you have any cold\, flu\, measles\, or Covid symptoms (ex. fever\, cough\, sore throat\, runny nose\, rash\, etc)\, we ask that you please do not attend.\nThe room can fit about 12 people comfortably.

PrEP and DoxyPEP are two different medications that may help protect against STIs. \n\nPrEP helps prevent HIV when taken as prescribed by a clinician.\nDoxyPEP may help prevent bacterial STIs when taken within 72 hours after having sex without a condom.\n\nAppointments are available on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:30 at the Centre.
